You may have heard the terms CCFL screen and LED Screen being used when talking about replacements. But what is a CCFL Laptop Display Screen? From the front you will not be able to tell the difference. It will look just like any other laptop screen. A glass fronted panel with a glossy finish usually. It is only when you have a faulty screen and need to remove it to swap with a new one that you will be able to see the difference.
CCFL stands for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. It is these lamps that provide the light in different colours to enable us to see an image. The stand out difference between a CCFL screen and an LED screen is the CCFL version will have two thin wires that come out of the bottom of the screen meeting in a small white plug. This plug fits into a strip of electrics just underneath the screen called the inverter. It is alternating power from this inverter that allows the CCFL to light up in different colours. Any Laptop Screen with these wires hanging off the bottom of it is classed as a CCFL panel and should make it easier for you to detect if you ever need a new screen.
