What Does LCD Mean In Terms Of A Laptop Screen?

There is a very common mistake that the average person and even some in the laptop repair industry make and that is the terminology for the different types of laptop screen. At the moment there are just two different types of Laptop Screen. They come in a variety of sizes but these two types are called CCFL and LED. This defines the way the screen is lit. CCFL with tubes of light much like an office strip light and LED with lots of LED lights around the screen.

The mistake comes when people assume the CCFL screen is also called an LCD screen. In fact both CCFL and LED panels are LCD. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display and all laptop screens have a layer of LCD which carried the current through it and gives of the different shades of colour. So if you need a new LCD panel, remember that you need to make sure it is CCFL or LED only. For further advice just get in touch with us at Laptop Power UK.
