What do you need to know about Laptop Screens when you are looking to fix your laptop? There are different sizes, obviously, ranging from about 8.9″ up to 17″ and more. Within these different sizes there are different types which you may come across. Phrases such as CCFL, LED and Razor may keep cropping up. Read on for more information on laptop screens.
Getting the right size is obviously important to ensure the panel fits into your laptop. Many laptops will have the size of the screen printed in their manual or on a sticker somewhere on the laptop. This gives you a good starting point to begin looking for a compatible screen.
Some websites may ask you whether you have a CCFL screen or LED screen. Unless your laptop came with the selling point of it being a LED screen inside, then you will not be able to tell without removing the old screen, exactly which type it is. CCFL screens require a part called an inverter. On the bottom of the Laptop screen will be a wire that meets in a small white plug. This attaches to the part called the inverter and gives the screen its power to light up.
If you need an LED screen this will not have this part and instead will just connect to the laptop via one single ribbon cable. It will all be pretty easy to tell the difference once you have accessed the laptop screen. Many websites such as Laptop Power UK will have looked into all models of laptop already and can tell you exactly which part you need just of the model number of the laptop, but it is always nice to double check just for peace of mind and to save you any hassle.
