Laptop Screen Industry Update

The laptop screen industry has seen many interesting changes over the last 12 months. The most popular laptop screen made to date, the 15.4” laptop screen has reached the end of its life. Production is due to stop this month, after over 6 months of speculation over the last manufacture. All laptop screens which are currently being manufactured for new laptops use LED backlight technology, which offers not only a better more crisp picture, but all excellent energy saving benefits, allowing both gains to battery life and the environment!

LED Laptop screens do not have the standard inverter cables coming out of the bottom of the screen like a standard CCFL screen has due to the difference in the technology of the screen. Instead there is simply a video cable slot on the back of the screen. Many manufacturers position this cable in various positions, making it difficult to ensure that you get the correct replacement screen for your laptop when you need a new one. If you need and assistance in selecting the correct item them please feel free to give our sales team a call to help you.

Many screens are getting smaller given the popularity of netbooks. The range of screens for laptops and netbooks is currently from 7” all the way up to over 20”. The most popular screens in product at this moment in time are the 11.6”, 15.6” and 17.3” LED screens. Many netbook screens have already finished final production are becoming more difficult to get hold of and the prices are rising.
