Remember how careful you were when you first brought your laptop home? Perhaps you shut it down, carefully unplugged the wires, avoided eating or drinking near it and put it out of harm’s way every time you used it.
A few months down the line and the situation is a little different.
You don’t bother shutting it down, you yank wires out, there are fingerprints all over the laptop screen and you are practically having your breakfast on the keyboard.
It’s this kind of treatment that leads to laptop repairs. Careless tugging of wires (such as your laptop adaptor) can lead to pulling out the entire power jack – which is the first of the most common laptop repairs. It used to be that it was necessary to replace the entire motherboard – sound expensive? Well, replacing the motherboard is expensive but you may be able to find a laptop repair technician who can solder the necessary part back on.
The second most common type of laptop repairs will never occur if you stick to that rule of not drinking at your laptop. Spilt liquid usually completely destroys the keyboard. If you immediately pull out the plug (gently!) and turn the keyboard upside down for 4-6 hours, you may have a chance of avoiding major damage.
The final most common source of laptop repairs is dimming screen lights. This is not something that can be caused by human error.
When you are sourcing laptop parts, consider non-branded laptop parts from a company such as Laptop Power. We stock unbranded compatible parts and not the manufacturers’ originals, meaning our quality is high but our prices are low.
