Many people ask us this question and the answer is always the same. The best way to tell is to remove the old panel. Lots of people intend to buy a Replacement Laptop Screen and want to fit it themselves. This is a great idea and will save you a fortune. But some models use two different types, CCFL and LED screens. How do you tell them apart?

From the outside there is no visible difference so you will need to take the old laptop display panel out. You can do this with the help of our Laptop Screen Fitting Instructions. Once inside, you can easily tell the two types apart. The LED screen will just have one cable connecting it to the laptop – the ribbon cable that is found at the back of the screen. The CCFL version will have this same ribbon cable, usually in the same place but at the bottom of the screen will be two small wires meeting in a small white plug.
