New HP Laptop Charger Causes Confusion

It has been some years since HP last released a new laptop charger. Given how accustomed people had become to the old style ‘Smart Tip’ charger, it was inevitable that a new laptop adapter release was going to cause some problems and some getting used to. The new HP 65w Sleekbook adapter is designed for us only on new Sleekbooks and is not backward compatible with older models. The power supply only works on the HP Envy 6 Series, HP Pavilion 14 and 15 Series and the HP Spectre XT Pro series.
Laptop Power UK will be launching a new series of videos and podcast which will illustrate to users to difference between this new charger and the old model. Whereas the old HP laptop charger fit a huge range of laptops ranging from the HP G60 series to the entire HP Probook series, the new charger is a lot more specific and therefore needs to be purchased with care.
HP have reported that one of the reasons for the new charger design is to avoid damage to the DC jack socket when people have tripped over the power lead. Because the new HP sleekbook charger tip is longer and goes further into the laptop, it is less susceptible to damage caused in this manner. Whilst this is no doubt an improvement, it has certainly caused its fair share of compatibility problems and confusions
