Getting a new laptop is really exciting. You have probably spent some time working out which one to buy, reading reviews, looking online and in the shops for good deals.
You get it home and take a look through the instruction manual; play around on it, upload some useful programmes, and then – just when you are feeling pleased with everything – the phone rings.
In your hurry to answer the phone you brush your arm against your mug of tea, which has been completely forgotten about in your excitement over your laptop, and you let out a wail of horror as you knock the cup over your brand new laptop keyboard.
You turn it over and turn it off, but when it comes to trying it later, you find the keyboard no longer works.
Sadly, you are not alone in damaging your keyboard in this way. One of the most common causes of damage to laptops is done by spilling food or drink over the keyboard, which is why laptop keyboard replacements are one of the most commonly requested laptop parts.
It’s possible to damage your laptop keyboard in less dramatic ways too. Long-term accumulated dirt, dust and other debris such as pet hair can lodge between keys, and if not cleaned regularly, may mean that you will be looking out for laptop keyboard replacements before long.
Avoid eating or drinking near your laptop, clean the keyboard regularly, and you may be able to avoid the expense of looking for laptop parts.
