Before you go buying a replacement laptop keyboard, it is always worth checking that the laptop hardware under the keyboard is undamaged. There is usually simple button or latch that will let you lift the keyboard off to check the innards below are safe and dry. If they aren’t, give our team a call and we’ll see what we can do.
By far the most common cause of keyboard malfunction for both desktop and notebook computers is spills. If the spill is plain water and you get it out of the keyboard very quickly and dry the whole thing out, you can sometimes be lucky and get away with it. However, a coffee or tea spill has a worse prognosis. See our post on emergency first aid for what to do in the event of an accident with your morning beverage to see if you can salvage your keyboard, but sadly, without fast intervention most laptop keyboards that come into contact with liquids become inoperable.
The first step towards getting the computer functioning again is to look through our catalogue and find a compatible laptop screen for your make and model. Like all our laptop parts, we’ll dispatch it to you with detailed step by step instructions and if you order before 3pm on a weekday the new part will be in the post that same day. We can use a next day service to get it to you as soon as humanly possibly.
If you’re not confident dealing with laptop hardware on your own, our technical team can talk you through it on the phone. They know laptops and they know the compatible keyboard laptop parts we sell, so they’re well placed to help you install your new keyboard.
