Keep your laptop safe with the right kind of battery

A laptop computer is basically a smaller version of a desktop computer. A laptop, however, is able to trump a desktop on a few issues such as:

•    Size – a laptop is considerably smaller than a desktop
•    Portability – a laptop can be carried around and allow you to venture away from the desk
•    Power supply – laptop power supply is run on battery power alone whereas desktops rely solely on a socket

Some older laptops still use the older form of laptop battery, Nickel Cadmium (NiCad), which was commonly used a few years ago. These types of laptop batteries didn’t have very long charge lives and ran out of power after roughly two hours. This problem was exacerbated when you consider that the charge life decreased slightly every time the battery was charged and the only way to get round this was to let the battery run out of charge completely before recharging it again. Another more frightening aspect of these laptop batteries is that if they are left to charge for too long, they have the nasty habit of exploding.

These days, the majority of laptops come fitted with and use a safer and more practical type of battery called Lithium Ion batteries. These types of laptop batteries are slightly smaller and thinner than the old kind (they’re suitable for the thin laptops) and can be charged at any time with no danger of exploding just because they’re being charged. Lithium Ion batteries can last for up to five hours at a time.

Here at Laptop Power UK, we offer the safest, brand name manufactured laptop batteries to keep your laptop charged and safe in the process as well as laptop chargers and laptop power cables.
