There are certain things you should do to avoid breaking your Laptop Power Unit. It is no something you can do without for very long as the laptop always needs to be charged or powered from the mains supply. Most of the ways to keep your laptop charger in tip top condition are simply common sense. Things such as not getting it wet, keeping it out of extremes of temperature such as leaving it outside in the cold or in direct sunlight. Don’t let your pet chew through the wires and avoid tripping over the cable, possibly snapping it.
Aside from the obvious, try not to wrap the cables tightly around the charger ‘brick’. There is always a possibility the cables inside may begin to fray causing the charger to fail. Also be careful when inserting/removing the tip of the charger. This can damage the DC socket inside the laptop making it seem the charger is faulty. It may be perfectly OK but your laptop will not charge because of the fault connection within the laptop. The same applies when tripping over the cable. This may jerk the charger our of the socket, damaging the laptop. If you would like help choosing the correct laptop charger for your laptop, take a look at Laptop Power UK’s website.
