Dell have brought an end to production of the PA-12 family of laptop chargers. Dell have becoming increasingly concerned with counterfeit production of their Dell PA12 adapters and have phased in a new sleek looking PA-4E charger. The laptop charger will have an identical specification of 65W (19.5V 3.34A) as the previous PA-12 charger, but it will be slim-line in design and also will have a trendy glowing blue light on the adapter tip.
The thinking behind the move is to increase the complexity for Chinese counterfeit Dell chargers to be manufactured. The UK in particular has been a victim of poor quality Dell PA10 and Dell PA12 chargers being sold. Dell has long taken its copyright and trademark rights very seriously and the production of the new PA-4E is a further attempt by Dell to eradicate the market of these counterfeits.
