One of the most accurate ways to go about sourcing a laptop charger is to read off the manufacturing part number of your old charger’s label. This means that you are guaranteed to get the correct spare which will be compatible with your machine.
One of the difficulties of doing this is that the writing on the OEM power supply label is incredibly small, and often there is a multitude of numbers on the label. To the untrained eye it can often be difficult to know which is the correct part number you should be taking down.
If you have your old laptop charger in front of you, then the easiest thing to do is give the Customer Service Team a call at Laptop Power UK. We have extensive experience when it comes to making sure you end up with the correct power cable, and we can do this
very quickly for you whilst you are on the phone.
Manufacturing labels can be tricky to interpret, with manufacturing part numbers, safety marks and UL certification numbers difficult to differentiate from each other. Let us assist you quickly, accurately and professionally and get your laptop
battery fully powered up once more.

Without wanting to ‘kick you whilst you are down’ we can’t say that we are surprised. Ebay is a great selling platform for many things, however for consumer electronics buyers should proceed with caution. When it comes to sourcing laptop chargers on Ebay many of our customers complain that they believe they have been sold a
counterfeit adapter, or simply received a product of very low quality which has failed on them after a short amount of time.
Many of the products being sold, some for as little as £5, are simply not worth wasting your time on. They will need to be replaced time and time again, and its sods law that the charger will fail on you when you could least do with it. Half way through a great film. Hours before a crucial piece of coursework is due to be
handed. When you are in your hotel working on an important business trip.
Laptop Power UK is the leading supplier of original OEM laptop chargers which means customers no longer have to take their chances with strange sounding sellers on Ebay, or
Chinese shell websites. We are an ethical company who only sell products that we have tried and tested over a number of years, and which we have sourced from the world’s leading distributors of OEM laptop parts. Use Laptop Power UK and take the chance and randomness of sourcing laptop spares online.

Quite often a Laptop Adapter may come in two different power ratings. The tip that plugs into your laptop will be exactly the same but the power output can be different. This different power rating is more often than not either 65W or 90W.
Generally, this difference will be noted on the label of your original power supply. If you look closely it will tell you. If not, it may state the volts and amps. These figures can be multiplied to give you the Wattage.
For instance a HP DV5-1050ER Laptop Charger may have 65W of power whereas a HP DV5-1132LA Adapter will be 90W of power. As you can see, these two different models of DV5 laptop are from the same range but the power supply can be different. It may be that some of the components in the former require extra
power to run them. A 90W power supply in a 65W machine will be fine as the charger would only draw the power it needs, but using a 65W power supply when you really need a 90W will burn the adapter out very quickly.

Many people want to know if there is an easy way to tell if their Laptop Adapter is broken. If you plug it in but the laptop does not come on, the first conclusion to jump to is the charger itself is faulty. However first appearances can be
deceiving. There are other issues to consider such as a fault with the laptop. It wouldn’t matter how many laptop power supplies you try if the laptop is broken as none of them are going to charge it up.
Laptop Power UK suggest some easy steps to check if your laptop charger is broken. Firstly, many adapters have a small LED light which illuminates when the adapter is plugged into the wall and is working correctly. This should be the first thing to look for. If
your charger does not have an indicator such as this, then a simple voltmeter can tell you whether there is any kind of output. Lots of us have these lying around in cupboards, tool boxes and sheds so fish one out and test your charger. Set it to the correct voltage – usually around 19V and with the negative pin on the outside of
the tip and the positive pin on the inside you should see a reading of around 19V if the adapter is fine. If you do see that the power supply is working correctly then you may need a trip to your computer repair store to have your laptop checked out.

If you have been happily working away on your laptop only to notice an annoying buzzing noise, what is going on? The sound will indicate that something is amiss with the laptop power supply and that it is either on it’s way out or has already
broken. The hissing or buzzing sound could be because of a couple of faults. One being, when the laptop adapter is plugged into the laptop, there is some kind of short between the tip of the adapter and the DC Socket within the laptop. The crackling sound will be caused by the electricity jumping across the circuit.
Another possible cause would be a component inside the charger failing. If the power is not flowing through the charger as it should you may hear a sound. Again, some laptop chargers will have a warning system within them to give a high pitched sound when something is wrong. If you are hearing these sounds it is in your interests
to look for a new power supply. Let Laptop Power UK help you out n your search for a replacement, visit us at www.laptop-power.co.uk.
