Apple boss Steve Jobs recently revealed at a press conference the latest offers available to all Apple iPhone owners.They will be offered a free Apple case or 30days money back for iPhone owners who remain unhappy with their phone’s performance. It is hoped that the case will help overcome the problem of the phone signal strength being rapidly depleted when the phone is held a particular way.To get your free case,you are able to apply via the Apple website from 22 July. Even though Apple claim they couldn’t make enough cases for all owners,based on the retail prices of iPhone cases,merely supplying one to all three million customers could cost Apple about $180m (£118m).The Apple offer of a free case will only last until the 30th of September so owners have to move swiftly.
The root of the problem is thought to be that the steel case of the phone is causing a gap between 2 antenna to be bridge which results in the signal being rapidly depleted when the phones held in the lower left area.It is thought the case stops this gap being bridged thus keeping the signal strength.Apple claim they are not the only ones experiencing this problem and that the smartphone world is too suffering,presenting a challenge for the whole industry.Only 0.55% of all iPhone 4 users have complained to the company about the issue and the number of phones returned to Apple was 1.7%, less than the 6% of 3GS models taken back to the shop by their owners.
