Some Laptop Screens are powered by an inverter which increases the voltage to allow the panel ‘backlight’ to illuminate. With this backlight now lit, you will be able to see the image. Otherwise the screen will be very dim, almost black, and you would not see much at all. A dim screen in these instances can be caused by a failed inverter.
The Asus K50IJ Laptop Display Panel is slightly different though as it is classed as an LED screen. LED screens do not use inverters to power a backlight and so if your screen goes dim you can rule this out as a potential fault. Instead you may have an issue with the screen which can be fixed by ordering a replacement from Laptop Power UK. All you need to do then is un-clip the data cable from the faulty panel and re-attach to your new screen and you will be able to see the light again!
