HP Laptop Batteries – Why all the Confusion?

December 12th, 2013
The most popular laptop of the last three years has been the HP Pavilion G6 Series. The laptop was adopted by both Tesco and PC World in their ‘back to school’ push, and as a result is a firm favourite with schoolchildren up and down the UK. The majority of people will have had good use and performance out of this decent laptop series, however after 3 years, the HP laptop battery life is becoming a common cause for concern.
People who are looking for an HP laptop battery replacement will often find the codes 593553-001, 593554-001 orMU06 on their old battery. What does this all mean? Well the short answer is that these are Hewlett Packard manufacturing and identification codes. This laptop battery fits lots of different HP laptops including HP G62, G6, G7 series.
Laptop Power UK stock the original HP MU06 battery, and due to recent government and Royal Mail legislation, all our lithium ion batteries are shipped via a next day courier. We guarantee the battery will be compatible with your laptop, and will be a direct replacement for the original 593553-001 HP part. Don’t worry yourselves with questions over volts and amps – get in touch today and have your replacement battery (and three hour laptop battery life) tomorrow!

Lenovo Goes Up-Market With its Carbon X1 Range

December 12th, 2013
It’s fair to say that the laptop and tablet market is in a state of flux at the moment. We have seen Apple coming down market with some entry level smartphones, and Acer moving up-market as an early mover in the touchscreen and ultrabook market. Lenovo has now come forward with an interesting offering – the Lenovo Carbon X1 series.
The laptop is definitely pitched towards the top-end of the market, with an RRP of in excess of £900. The product has been well received by both the corporate market and retail market. As the largest manufacturer of laptops in the world, it is a big statement of intent from Lenovo in a push back towards increasing price, increasing specification and branding.
So where does Laptop Power UK come in? Well Lenovo have couple the release of this laptop series with a brand new Carbon X1 charger specification. Instead of utilising the previous 90w standard barrel tip Lenovo laptop charger they have released a new 90w Lenovo charger with a USB connector on the end. Laptop Power UK stocks the original Lenovo power supply, direct from the OEM factory, and is pleased to announce we accept purchase orders from schools and large corporates- the typical home of the Lenovo Carbon X1 laptop.

New HP Laptop Charger Causes Confusion

December 12th, 2013
It has been some years since HP last released a new laptop charger. Given how accustomed people had become to the old style ‘Smart Tip’ charger, it was inevitable that a new laptop adapter release was going to cause some problems and some getting used to. The new HP 65w Sleekbook adapter is designed for us only on new Sleekbooks and is not backward compatible with older models. The power supply only works on the HP Envy 6 Series, HP Pavilion 14 and 15 Series and the HP Spectre XT Pro series.
Laptop Power UK will be launching a new series of videos and podcast which will illustrate to users to difference between this new charger and the old model. Whereas the old HP laptop charger fit a huge range of laptops ranging from the HP G60 series to the entire HP Probook series, the new charger is a lot more specific and therefore needs to be purchased with care.
HP have reported that one of the reasons for the new charger design is to avoid damage to the DC jack socket when people have tripped over the power lead. Because the new HP sleekbook charger tip is longer and goes further into the laptop, it is less susceptible to damage caused in this manner. Whilst this is no doubt an improvement, it has certainly caused its fair share of compatibility problems and confusions

Acer Aspire S7 Laptop Chargers – Your Wait is Over

December 12th, 2013
The laptop spares market is generally well served with replacement laptop spares, however spare a thought for the owners of the Acer Aspire S7 laptop. PC World and the other big high street stores have been pushing this laptop for nearly 12 months now – with its ultra sleek design and lovely touchscreen. The only problem is people who have been unfortunate to have their Acer Aspire S7 laptop charger fail on them have been very short on options to put it mildly.
Liteon was the Company contracted to manufacture the laptop adapter, but there has been a huge shortage in the excess market. The charger is specific to the Acer Aspire S5, Acer Aspire S7 and the Acer Iconia W700. The tip specification is different to the standard Acer laptop charger and as a result there have been hoards of people unable to source an original replacement power supply.
The good news is that Laptop Power UK has now come to the rescue. Due to us securing the first excess stock release (as we always do!) we are pleased to announce we can service this pent up demand with brand new original chargers.
The sad part in this tale is that the Acer Aspire S7 is a good laptop, one of the best Acer have released for a long time. There will have been  a lot of nice high specification laptops sitting idle and redundant due to the lack of a supply of replacement laptop chargers. Well the wait is over. Place your order today and get your Aspire S7 back on Facebook, LinkedIn and www.laptop-power.co.uk.

Dell Laptop Chargers – Common pitfalls and Complaints

December 10th, 2013
Dell laptop chargers can be difficult to replace properly. The key word in this sentence is ‘properly’. There are a lot of non-original Dell chargers being offered in the marketplace, so what is the problem? The first and most obvious issue, as identified on various BBC documentaries, is the fact that most non-OEM laptop chargers on the market lack proper safety certification such as the ‘CE’ mark and ‘UL’ certification which allows the products to be legally sold in the USA and Europe.
Original Dell chargers include a smart chip IC inside the tip head. This allows the laptop adapter to charge the Dell laptop battery, as well as running the laptop off the mains power. A common compliant of customers who purchase generic power supplies is that it will run the Dell laptop off the mains but never charges the battery – a big problem for people always on the move.
Laptop Power UK only stock original Dell laptop chargers sourced direct from the manufacturer. Part codes we support include PA-10, PA-12, PA-21, PA-3E, PA-2E, PA-4E and PA-9E. Always insist on purchasing the original product and part number. This guarantees quality, reduces confusion and helps to avoid the nightmare scenario of that all important overseas business trip being rudely disrupted by a faulty generic Dell laptop adapter.
